A QR (Quick Response) code is a type of 2D barcode that stores information readable by a smartphone camera. They can encode URLs, text, contact details, WiFi credentials and more. When scanned, the phone instantly opens the encoded content.

A QR code can store up to 7,089 numeric characters, 4,296 alphanumeric characters, or around 2,953 bytes of binary data. For best scan reliability, keep your content under 300 characters. Short URLs always scan faster and more reliably.
Error correction allows a QR code to be scanned even if part of it is damaged or covered. Level L recovers 7% damage, M recovers 15%, Q recovers 25%, and H recovers 30%. Level M is the recommended default for most uses.
